Today is a non-golfing day, and the goats have already scoped out their hike…….down in Howth, there are numerous trails through the open land above town, and they have selected the Cliff Walk trails…….apparently very popular, and very scenic. I will hang around in town and watch the world go by for a while, and maybe even grab a nap in the car.

Our morning is very relaxed with a little sleep in, late breakfast, and we are heading out in Cash Cab close to noon. Howth is not far away, and we notice the traffic getting quite busy as we approach town, then it gets real busy, and then it stops. Slow going all the way in, and when we arrive, there are throngs of people everywhere……..coffee shops and restaurants are lined up out to the sidewalk. We make our way through the mayhem, and I drive up the hill towards the trailhead, dropping the ladies as planned, but it looks like they will have a lot of company on this hike……..plenty of people making their way up from town on foot. Sibylle has her AllTrails app running and a master plan to meet me back in town in a couple of hours. It turns out they were given some bad advice while on the cliff walk and ended up back down on the lowlands in the town of Sutton, up the road from Howth. Cash Cab is at their beckoned call, and I am there in minutes to save the day.

We decide an early dinner is in order……still some lingering jet lag for J&S…….so we decide it will be back to the Pier House for some of their best in the world fish and chips. Warmly welcomed by Jacob and his cohort Malvinas……..complimentary bubbly…….some more of the amazing shrimp tempura, before tying in to a very generous portion of arguably some of the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Wonderful stuff. Way too full to even consider dessert, but Jacob comes through with a round of honey whiskey that does the trick.

Great night, great day, back to the hotel early to grab some shut eye…….back on course tomorrow.
