THE OLD COURSE

Today we play The Old Course at Atalaya GC., having played the New Course last week………remember the one with the sloping fairways where Sibylle got her new nickname “The Hillside Strangler” because of her ability to play the banked slopes beside the fairways where she typically wound up centre cut after fabulous rollouts.

The Old is something much different. Long…….very long…….very little undulation, and fairways wide enough to land a jumbo……..holes are quite straightforward…….greens are bent grass and rolling beautifully………..Jutta’s comment, “It’s a snooze”………We are all playing well, but the slow play problem continues………Jutta figures part of the problem is that we play too fast……..I think she is right…….we are going to work on our Mediterranean pace for future rounds and see if that helps……….don’t think it will because 4:45 for a round of golf is still a long time.

Small World moment…….just stepping onto the first tee there was a perfect white one lying there in the grass……picked it up and guess what….Barrie Country Club
More sculpture at Atalaya
The view from the condo never gets old.

We have decided to stay in tonight…….already way past 5pm, and we are going to stop and shop at SuperCor……..grab some tapas for home, crack a bottle, and relapse. I have placed a special order for some soft toilet tissue……….Jutta does not like it when I mention toilet things while on our travels, but issues seem to arise on every trip we take, and truly, people want to know!……..it is my job to point these out for you. Case in point, Spain does not have soft toilet tissue……I would liken it more to fine stationary than anything else……….you could make origami with this stuff……..hmmm here honey, this is a swan I made during my morning constitutional. Squeezing the Charmin has never been a problem in the Costa Del Sol. I have used sandpaper with less grit than this stuff. So happy that the goats were able to procure a bonus pack of the softest tissue in the store.

THEN……you’ll never guess what happened……no really, NEVER…….this is way too freaky.

Ever since we went to the Cosgrove Setlakwe wedding in Montreal and stayed at the Ritz Carleton, wow, it had to be 10 years ago, and our bathroom was equipped with a Toto 5000 model washlet toilet, Jutta has been saying “I would like to get one of those” for the house……….I mean word got around to all of our friends staying in the hotel, and every 15 minutes there would be a knock at our door, and one of our friends would be there saying…”Yeah…….do you mind if I use the toilet, I hear it’s really something”. Quite a piece of equipment I have to agree………..WELL, there was this remote control thing sitting on a ledge above the toilet here in the condo master suite, and I thought it was probably for the heated floor, or exhaust fan…….never really looked. GUESS WHAT……..now you know don’t you?……..a Villeroy & Boch washlet control for our toilet!!!

I won’t get into detail, but I have used this device and find it effective and pleasurable……..that is all I am allowed to say………will give you all the gory details in person when I get home. WOOOOOHOOOOO

Toilet paper………ha……..peasants

We had one of this fancy units in a home we rented for a year before moving to CWOOD. I think it was a Benford 9000. I was spoiled for life!
