Kelowna – Kelowna
Today is all about prep for the run to Vancouver then onto the island. Lots to do…….

oil change for the truck…..done – Penzoil drive through timed it perfectly – 30 minutes

grocery stock up…….done – Jutta zipped through the grocery store while I was at Penzoil
buy MORE wine…….done – Jutta also had time to scope out a liquor store in the mall and found they had some Painted Rock Chardonnay in stock…….they don’t anymore!!!……..even the winery is out of stock, but we have found it at 2 stores here in town………both had creative signs out front

get a haircut……done – I forgot to give myself a buzz before we left, and left the barber tools at home, but found a nice little barber shop with punky Aleeysha on duty……I told her I was a #4 clipper guard guy, but she insisted on going shorter as my hair would grow in more naturally……well at this stage of the game, that is definitely what I’m looking for…..WTF……….”if” it does grow back……shortest haircut I can remember……..on the bright side, Jutta said we forgot to pack abrasive cleaning pads, and now we don’t need any
Stopped for lunch on the way home……Deeeeelish…….grilled cheese joint

dump the holding tanks…..done – I am becoming very proficient at taking care of what I thought would be a very nasty job…….seamless…….fresh water tank filled…….black and grey water tanks dumped…….pipes cleaned and stored…….just call me the Honey Dew Man
I am having some reservations about our route for tomorrow……thinking we will go south via Osoyoos and west on Hwy3 rather than do Coquihalla……it’s an hour longer, but safer, and apparently more scenic, and we have nothing but time………

Somehow we managed to squeeze in time for a hike on the river trail just downhill from home…..really cool, and ended up at what they call the Stone Ovens……way too many pictures to follow……but we were also advised about bear sightings in the area……the local authorities warned of bear presence and said if hiking you should wear bells and carry pepper spray, and also, learn the difference between bear droppings when you see them on the trail…….black bear droppings would tend to be smaller and contain remnants of twigs and berries, while grizzly bear droppings would be much larger, contain small bells, and smell like pepper spray.

Fantastico dinner tonight…..pan seared Halibut……one of Jutta’s famous salads……..are you kidding?……….we had the chardonnay. We are sailing west tomorrow……..good night…..
