We are feeling lucky this morning that our request to change the 2pm tee time at Santa Clara GC was granted, and we were given the 8:20 slot instead. Finally we get to see what playing in the morning is like in Costa Del Sol, but first we have to make sure we can get our asses out of bed. Santa Clara is just on the other side of Marbella from us, so a 30 minute ride for sure. Everything goes like clockwork and we arrive with time to spare, down to the first tee, and find that we are the third group off this morning behind the lead twosome and a threesome right in front of us.
Immediately the course looks great……the first few holes have definitely made an impression and it just keeps on getting better. What a nice golf course…….I am having my best round of the trip so far and J&S are playing well also.

By the time we are finished……oh yeah just 4hrs later on the dot……..we have already decided we want to switch out Atalaya New round next week for this course, and the caddie master makes it happen, and again with an 8:00am tee time. Pushing our luck we ask to play an extra round on the 18th and does she have any times available………”Yes, I think we can make 8:10 happen”…….she is soooo good. So, as you can tell Santa Clara is a favourite.

Following golf we have planned to visit one of the hot spots on Costa Del Sol……..Puerto Banús……..located on the coast just southwest of Marbella, this marina complex which was built in 1970 by, you guessed it, José Banus, now boasts 5 million visitors per year (make that 5,000,003) and is known as an enclave of everything high end.

Built to resemble a coastal town rather than blasting in a bunch of high rises, this whole complex was really well thought out………a careful mixture of restaurants, shops, services, hotels, and residences, exists and just begs you to wander around and enjoy the view. Obviously the centerpiece is the marina with approx 900 berths for watercraft up to a max of 160ft. although my crack research staff tell me the Lady Hoya is 212ft. and I am full of #$%&. The pictures tell the story, but this is some crazy stuff. Interesting to note that private yachts we have seen or heard of ie Gates, Bezos, Lucas, won’t even fit in here…….the 300+ft club!

I sat with a lovely G&T near the route into the marina as the goats pretended to hike but were really shopping, and marveled at the 4 wheeled candy that was rolling in and out of town………very cool and nice to watch. A little disappointed there was no totally jacked Chevy Silverado in the queue, but this is Europe after all and there is a size thing here. After this outing all we could manage was another home made charcuterie board in the condo, and that was more than enough………goodnight
