“POPULAR SEAGULL FOUND DEAD AT SLIEVE DONARD HOTEL”
A seagull know as Gully to employees and regular guests at this upscale Newcastle hotel has been found dead along the front wall of the hotel. Gully was known to visit the ledges outside upper floor bedrooms and many guests would feed him grains, seed, and fruit, liberated from the breakfast buffet downstairs if he happened to visit their room. Sources say Gully was seen yesterday morning on a third floor ledge, flapping his wings as if attempting to take off, but didn’t seem to be getting any lift. Michael Murphy, head of exterior maintenance at the hotel found poor Gully just after starting his shift and was visibly shaken. “He was a beauty ya know” said Michael, “and to see him lying there in a heap was just awful”…….upon closer inspection it was noted that Gully had some flaky breadlike crumbs around his beak that looked similar to the outer layer of say, a croissant. Foul play is not suspected. Gully will be missed
