Usually when it is a travel day, it is a scramble for the blog, looking for something to write about along the way, and often just travelling on boring old highway, and quite honestly that is how the day started……..heading North on I-15 quite a distance…….pretty boring stuff………then we connected with I-70 East, and that is when it got interesting in a hurry. The highway started climbing and descending with regularity, long long gradual climbs, and likewise for the 6-8 mile downhill sections, and obviously the scenery, being in the mountains, got a whole lot better. Then, we broke through into this gorgeous area that seemed to go on for miles……….we stopped at most of the scenic overlooks and were never disappointed. Names like Salt Wash, Eagle Canyon, Devils Canyon, Dead Horse Canyon, were only a few of the places we stopped. Once again the pictures tell the story, and little by little we are starting to understand how this land and these beautiful features were formed.

Jutta makes the best lunches in Plan B, and we often sit and munch our tuna salad and cucumber at the rest stops, looking out the door and windows at the most amazing scenery. 106 miles between gasoline stops during one leg today……..some anxiety created, but made it in with cupfuls to spare……….

Our target today is Moab, Utah, and hope to stay there a few days, visiting both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
