Cinco de Mayo

There is no big rush this morning…….short drive up to St.George, Utah, where we will park it for a few nights…….today we have planned a drive through Zion National Park, tomorrow is golf at Sand Hollow, one of my favourites from the boys trip a number of years ago, and the day following, we have booked a guide for an all day hiking tour of Zion NP.

We are staying in the town of Leeds, just north of St.George, and although it is the closest thing I could find when booking 8 weeks ago, we are still close to an hour drive from the park gates, but a little closer than that for golf. Great family run park……owners are hands on, and a wealth of knowledge about the area. Jutta and I have become quite good at set-up and take-down, so are unhitched and ready to go in a flash………realize we are hungry so cool our jets and sit down for some lunch. Not long though and we are off, and it didn’t take long for the views to kick in……….Jutta has become quite proficient at taking pictures from a moving car, so much of the following is her work……..

ALL OF THESE ARE FROM OUR DRIVING TOUR, STRAIGHT THROUGH THE PARK AND DIDN’T EVEN GO UP THE MAIN CANYON

“Really an amazing place” is all I can say…………it was quite a drive.

A COUPLE OF OUR HORNY FRIENDS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT…………..I’M NOT SURE THAT CAME OUT AS I INTENDED?

MY PHOTOGRAPHER HARD AT WORK

It is Cinco de Mayo and we feel like a margarita is in order……..we remember seeing a Mexican restaurant in Leeds, but given our luck with restaurants this trip we aren’t getting our hopes up. Casa Tequilana turns out to be a gem, on the tail end of this long building that I could only call a rustic looking strip mall, little outside patio with a closer than you’d like view of Interstate 15, and really good margaritas. Wouldn’t you know it, family run operation and the owners are right there doing the cooking. Originally planning to have a snack here and go out to the restaurant we reserved, but after looking at the menu it was all over. Ordered more drinks and stayed for dinner………..I ordered a beer to follow my margarita, but the waiter couldn’t bring it to my table until the other one was finished…….one of those funky Utah drinking laws……one drink per person at the table……..”shot and a beer, not happening here” The food is fantastic…….we will be back.

JUTTA’S SHRIMP/PORK TACOS…..

Back home I have finally managed to get the cable TV up and running so we have some movies to fall asleep to.

WE FOUND THIS LITTLE DARLING IN THE VERY VERY BACK CORNER OF THE RV PARK…….WHEN YOU HAVE A FRAME AND A SET OF WHEELS, THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT YOU CAN BUILD ON TOP………SHE IS TOTALLY HOOKED UP…..ELECTRIC AND SOLAR POWER, WATER, SEWER, PROPANE BACKUP, INSTANT HOT WATER HEATER, AND DOUBLE GLAZED WINDOWS WE STOLE FROM UNCLE BOB’S PLACE…….SHE IS A BEAUTY………
