Son of a Beach

We don’t have any firm plans today other than going for a hike, and getting me an hour or so at either the washrooms or at the camp office (good wifi), to get caught up on the blog.  I write pretty much every day, and always run through the pictures Jutta and I have taken, yes, a ton of the pictures are Jutta’s, but just don’t get a chance to upload the pictures and publish without good wifi.  I sat outside the office in the truck…….comfy….worked well.

However, this morning, we have decided to walk Long Beach, now known as “that son of a never-ending beach”.  It is a long one……….and before we left, we actually had delusions that we would walk to the next bay over and do some side trails also…….hahahaha. Quite an amazing stretch of beach, and a great walk to start the day.  Pisser though, got a ticket for parking without a park pass…….who knew?…….so we bought the pass which is essentially paying your ticket.

Gametime decision as we are leaving the parking lot…….back to Tofino for brunch or go south to Ucluelet………the game is on, and we turn right to Ucluelet.  Ain’t never been there, they tell me it’s nice.  What a great town.  We didn’t see everything in the hour or so we were there, but saw enough to plan a full day this week for sure. Fantastic eats at Ukee Dogs Taqueria…….me, the Whole Hog Hot Dog (topped with pulled pork and carmelized onions)………Jutta the beef brisket tacos…….couple of local beers and we are livin’ large baby. There are many more restaurants to explore, and the Wild Pacific Trail runs along the shore down here.

It was pretty busy in Tofino today and the restaurants were jammed.  We did get a table at this restaurant who take walk-in’s, and after looking at the menu we decided to get up and leave.  What a snooty pair we are.  Drove through town, and there are lineups outside most places, so time for Plan B……..we tried Sobo for a table but not a chance, so we went over and ordered takeout……had a couple of margaritas by the outside fireplace while we waited on the front porch, and then took home a delicious meal…….smoked salmon chowder and the rigatoni special x 2.

Not sure what we are watching tonight, but enjoying the small chunk of our DVD collection we brought along…….rewatching a lot of old favourites.
