Kelowna – Fairview Mountain – Oliver
Well do we have plans today!!!!……needed an early start this morning because our golf game is at Fairview Mountain, just south of Oliver, probably an hour and a half away from home base. Jutta and Kathie went for a tour of the course during the 2018 GBC Okanagan Pro Chicks Tour, and thought it looked great. It was, and it still is. Our playing partners for the day were Trent (Aussie) and Christine (not)…….really nice couple and good golfers, who live in Whistler, and do an Okanagan swing every now and again. Chit chat with a member or two and we began to expect a fun and challenging day on the golf course. It was, and it still is.

Really great course with huge elevation features, undulating greens, fantastic views, required you to hit good shots all day long. Really fun. I hate pictures of the golf course because they rarely depict what it is to actually be there……all my pic’s were underwhelming and therefore not included……….would love to play here again.

Following golf were on the wine tasting circuit…….first stop was Hester Creek…….found a lovely Syrah which joined the bring home collection. Had to scoot for our scheduled tasting at Black Hills, one of our faves. We picked up some more Nota Bene, the Carmenere, and another Syrah………all fantastic, but the Syrah is a standout……..thanks Greg. Time was running short, and we missed a tasting at Phantom Creek, but did walk the property to take in the views and beautiful sculpture………sorry for all the pictures but this was amazing and have to share with you.

We have a long drive back to Kelowna, but decided since we missed lunch while on the course, we would have an early dinner up the road before heading home…….Jutta booked us in at the Miradoro, at Tinhorn Creek Winery just ten minutes away, and there was food, and drink, and a good time had by all. Nice pizza/pasta meal, accompanied by…….….a Syrah. The receiving platform for the fruit was just outside below the restaurant, and man are they working it right now……….bin after bin full of grapes arriving to be processed. Most wineries are still in harvest/production mode…..a very busy time.

So once again, I sit here writing this in real time…..11:00pm in Kelowna……you are all asleep, and Kate and Pete are just getting up in the UK. Goodnight all.
