Kelowna – Gallagher Canyon GC
The weather has been a cause for some concern lately, with snow at higher elevations, and some ugly systems passing through. Such was the case last night, and today didn’t look great either, so before we drove up to Vernon for a round of golf at The Rise, we gave them a call to check things out on their end……..quick decision…….no way we are going to play golf up there today. We discussed our options, and thought what the heck, lets call Gallagher Canyon GC which is right around the corner, and go play there, even if it does rain we will be close to home.

We were on the course within the hour and nobody…….nobody…….was out there. Yep, it rained when we were just two holes in, and continued for two more holes……..then the sun came out!!!!! Beautiful day on a very good and interesting golf course……tons of elevation changes…….really fun. We played in 2.5 hours and cars were streaming into the parking lot as we were leaving…….timing is everything!

Shopping was next on the list, and we found a great fish market, bakery, veggie market, and wine store, all in the one plaza. Our host Leslie was around when we returned to camp, and we ordered some more of her fresh eggs, and delicious tomatoes from her garden. Dinner to follow……..crab cakes, fresh pan fried rock fish, one of Jutta’s great salads (with the tomatoes and fresh basil), all washed down with a Painted Rock chardonnay.

We have more golf and wine tastings scheduled tomorrow, and the forecast looks pretty decent, so we’ll see how it goes.
